Based on Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and Charles Perrault’s La Belle au bois dormant, Maleficent is a live-action retelling from the perspective of the eponymous antagonist. Maleficent is a powerful fairy and protector of the Moors; a magical forest realm bordering a human kingdom.

Next to safeguarding Aurora, the protection of this realm is Maleficent’s main priority. To stop King Stefan’s armies from invading the land, she surrounds it with an impenetrable wall of thorns. They’re seen here on this backpack, slowly twining in to save the beautiful Moors from harm as Maleficent is there to oversee. The blackened thorns represent the darkness held in her heart from Stefan’s betrayal, while the Moors are bursting with life and colour.
